This position requires exceptional driving ability, sound judgment, discretion, situational awareness, and the ability to operate safely and calmly in changing traffic, weather, and scheduling conditions. The Private Driver will be responsible for passenger transportation, route planning, vehicle readiness, and maintaining the organization's vehicles to the highest standards.

This is a full-time, year-round position with flexibility required for weekdays, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, schedule changes, and occasional urgent transportation needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide safe, punctual, and professional transportation for authorized personnel and guests.
  • Operate organization-owned vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, safety standards, and internal policies.
  • Plan primary and alternate routes in advance, accounting for traffic, weather, construction, road closures, and scheduling requirements.
  • Monitor real-time traffic and weather conditions and adjust routes when necessary.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of road conditions, surrounding vehicles, and potential transportation-related risks.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, properly equipped, and ready for service at all times.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, detailing, registration, inspections, and other vehicle-related services.
  • Maintain accurate mileage, fuel, maintenance, and trip records.
  • Promptly report vehicle damage, mechanical concerns, accidents, citations, or other driving-related incidents.
  • Assist passengers with doors, luggage, packages, and vehicle entry or exit as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional communication regarding arrival times, delays, route changes, and scheduling updates.
  • Protect passenger privacy and maintain strict confidentiality regarding identities, destinations, schedules, conversations, and organizational matters.
  • Remain available and prepared for itinerary changes, extended assignments, and transportation needs outside the regular schedule.
  • Perform other driving and vehicle-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Prior employment in a driving position with a United States federal law enforcement agency is mandatory.
  • Candidates must be able to document that professional driving was a significant component of their federal law enforcement duties.
  • Experience in protective driving, dignitary transportation, secure transportation, motorcade operations, surveillance driving, operational driving, or another comparable federal law enforcement driving assignment is strongly preferred.
  • Applications from candidates whose backgrounds are limited to state, county, municipal, military, private-security, rideshare, taxi, limousine, or general chauffeur driving will not be considered unless they also possess the required federal law enforcement driving experience.
  • Exceptional driving skills and a demonstrated record of safe vehicle operation.
  • Valid driver's license with an exemplary driving record.
  • Thorough knowledge of defensive-driving principles, route planning, and accident-avoidance techniques.
  • Ability to remain calm, attentive, and decisive in heavy traffic, adverse weather, and rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Strong punctuality, reliability, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise complete discretion.
  • Comfortable operating a variety of passenger vehicles, including luxury sedans, SUVs, and vans.
  • Working knowledge of navigation systems, traffic applications, hands-free communications, and vehicle technology.
  • Ability to assist with luggage and packages and perform routine physical tasks associated with passenger transportation.
  • Current defensive-driving or protective-driving certification preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED certification preferred.
  • Outstanding professional references from current and previous employers.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, driving-record review, and any other required screening.

Compensation

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall background. Discretionary performance-based annual bonus potential.

Benefits

Full, non-contributory benefits.

All compensation offers are contingent upon experience, references, credentials, verification of prior federal law enforcement driving responsibilities, and successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.
