At approximately 6:45 this evening I checked my word count and — lo and behold I was at 50,014 words! So I did some quick wrapping up (the story’s so disjointed it’s not even funny), went to a meeting, and came home and verified it. NaNoWriMo.org verified my final word count at 50,312.
Congrats to Ross, who finished just a few minutes later (but got to validate first!).
So what is the next step for you and yr novel?
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
and to Ross as well
I think the next step is to not look at it for a while.
Eventually I’ll read it, see what parts I like, maybe turn some pieces into short stories (maybe not), try not to think, “I spent a month producing this?”, and then start thinking about what I’ll write about next year.
That seems very logical and wise.
yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by january hopefully the novels will cool down and dissection can begin.
i lookedover mine last night before sending it off to my friend alex. there were some good parts! i was happy.
That’s awesome, Ross!
I kind of skimmed through mine to see if there was something I could pull as an excerpt to post here, and while there were one or two possibilities, there wasn’t anything that I *loved* (or wanted to share). I was, however, surprised that some of the writing — which I had felt was trite and repetitive — wasn’t as terrible as I previously thought. So there’s that.
congrats J-ulia
Thank you! Good to see you here. 🙂
